Happy Friday, friends!
LIFE UPDATES:
Please accept my sincerest apologies for this being the one and only Substack post for the week. On Wednesday, I woke up early and got all dolled up to go to the DMV to update my driver’s license with my new last name because I’m not a feminist and I took my husband’s last name. What I thought would be an hour-long venture turned into a nearly 5.5-hour ordeal that nearly got my car towed! (I’ll save that story for another time)
Everyone waited until the last minute to get their “REAL ID” updated — relatable! — and the DMV in the neighboring city had shut down for the day. I went to one of the most unpleasant places on one of the worst days a person could possibly go. But I prevailed! The waiting room actually cheered for those of us who waited over five hours when our numbers were called. It was a good example of how sweet people can be when we’re collectively against the man. In this case, Big DMV😉
One day I will be thankful for taking my husband’s last name. Today is not that day.
UNDERREPORTED RADAR
Stories flying under the radar this week include:
Cody Blamer, a 38-year-old man, allegedly threw homemade Molotov cocktails at the Pennsylvania Governor’s mansion setting off a fire while Gov. Josh Shapiro and his family were home. The fire caused significant damage to the home, but no one was injured. Blamer is charged with attempted murder, terrorism, and arson. He confessed to harboring hatred toward Shapiro.
An executive at Ford admitted that he yelled at an elderly man in a wheelchair for watching Fox News. Barrett Evans, the Chief Learning Officer at Ford posted on social media that he saw an elderly passenger watching Fox News. When the elderly couple deplaned, the elderly gentleman and his wife got into airport wheelchairs. He claimed his “filter was malfunctioning” and told the elderly couple “love to see you supporting DEI.”
Comedian Tyler Fischer alleged that Fox News, specifically the show “Gutfeld!,” kicked him off the network for asking an employee out for coffee. He claims he’s hired legal counsel for defamation because the news outlet refused to book him and opted to believe a “radical feminist” over his claims.
The UK’s Supreme Court unanimously upheld sanity by ruling that transgender women do not fit the legal definition of the word "woman" in the UK and that the definition of “woman” is reserved for biological females. This ruling does not remove any protections for transgender people, they are still protected from discrimination.
Immigration agents detained a Columbia student who was in his final step toward obtaining US citizenship. Mohsen Mahdawi is a close associate and friend of Mahmoud Khalil. Mahdawi was in Vermont on Monday going to what he thought was an immigration hearing to get his US citizenship. However, when Mahdawi appeared for his scheduled interview, he was met by immigration officials who placed him under arrest with the hopes of deporting him.

AMERICA’S GOODEST BOY:
Some say double the trouble, we say double the cuddles! Harper’s friend Abe is staying with us for Easter weekend while his paw-rents are on vacation. Abe is an 11-year-old black lab who is currently on a hunger strike. He misses his family, but we’re hoping he adjusts soon. The good thing is that Harper loves Abe (and it’s definitely not because he’s too old to get on the bed at night. No. Totally not that.)
